Ecrio Achieves Wireless Village Compliance for its Embedded Clients and Server Software Suite at the Second Wireless Village Interoperability Fest
Cupertino, California - October 15, 2002 — Ecrio Inc., a leading provider of instant communications application and infrastructure software solutions, announced today that it has been declared compliant with Wireless Village™ version 1.1 specifications following its successful participation in the second interoperability fest recently held in Atlanta, Georgia. Ecrio successfully demonstrated interoperability between its Embedded Handset Software (J2ME™ and PocketPC® clients) and AllMedia™ Instant Messaging solutions with other participating companies.
The latest interoperability fest brings group-messaging features (i.e., “Chat”) along with Instant Messaging and Presence Services (IMPS) to the realm of compliance. Ecrio’s Wireless Village compliant products enable a host of value-added services that combine community building, presence and availability, and AllMedia™ content delivery –text, handwritten notes, images, drawings, digital photos, voice, video, and documents– across mobile phones, PDAs, as well as personal computers and Internet browsers.
“We are glad to extend our leadership once again in standards interoperability, and advance the adoption of presence services, by making available the necessary building blocks to mobile operators, equipment providers, and device manufacturers,” said Nagesh Challa, President & CEO of Ecrio.
Ecrio, an active participant in various open standards and specifications initiatives, is now a member of the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) following the creation of the Instant Messaging and Presence Services (IMPS) Working Group based on Wireless Village activities. OMA includes more than 200 companies representing the whole mobile services value chain, such as the world’s leading mobile operators, device & network suppliers, information technology companies and content providers.
